Planning Workshop for “Sustainable and Environment-friendly Industrial Production (SEIP)” Project

A one-day “Planning Workshop” was organised at Vapi, Gujarat to bring all the stakeholders together and plan for the site level implementation of SEIP project for GIDC Vapi Industrial Estate in Gujarat. This workshop took place on 1st July 2016 during 11:00 am – 5:30 pm at the Conference Hall of VIA office, Vapi.  (ref. Programme schedule). The participants of the workshop were key representatives from Vapi Industrial Associations (VIA), Vapi Green Enviro Limited (VGEL), Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC), Gujarat Pollution Control Board (GPCB), Notified Area Authority (NAA) and GIZ.

Objective of planning workshop was to apply the management model of GIZ and finalise the following:

  • Activities and work packages under SEIP project.
  • Operational plans (Project management, Output based, activities, results/milestones, timelines, responsibility, resources).
  • Stakeholder Analysis/cooperation landscape (stakeholders, current roles, expected roles etc.).
  • Steering structures (state level, site level, functions/mandates, and periodicity of meetings).
  • Draft Cooperation Agreement: GIDC-VIA-GIZ.

An introductory session for information on SEIP project and activities to be taken up for GIDC Vapi Industrial estate were presented by Mr. Nitesh Patel, Technical Advisor, SEIP. This was followed by sessions on operational plan with milestones and timeline which was moderated by Mr. Raghu Babu Nukala, Project Director, SEIP.

As a result of the workshop, a consensual understanding about SEIP project activities for GIDC Vapi industrial estate and roles of stakeholder was achieved. In addition to this, various decisions about the operational plan, milestones, results, activities, and steering structure were taken. These plans will be regularly revisited and revised by the advisory committee which has been constituted at the site level with representation of all relevant stakeholders.
