Introductory meeting of Adelphi and Hydroplan with Patparganj Industries Association and stakeholders

An information event on Environment Management in Industries through Resource Efficiency and Cleaner Production (RECP), ETP improvement, waste water/effluent and storm management was conducted by GIZ as a part of SEIP project on March 10, 2017 at PFEA conference room, Patparganj for industries in Patparganj. The objective of information meeting was to provide information on environment management in industries through resource efficiency and cleaner production. More than twenty five officials including representatives from PFEA, industrialists, DPCC, Adelphi (represented by TERI and STENUM Asia), Hydroplan along with GIZ participated in the event.

The meeting commenced with screening of a film prepared by TERI on their former project ACIDLOOP describing the achievements in electroplating and metal finishing MSMEs in 106 industries across India. Mr. C Sripati, Technical Advisor, SEIP Project presented the introductory session with the consultants of Adelphi (represented by TERI and STENUM Asia) and Hydroplan.

Mr. Rajat Batra from STENUM Asia and Mr Prahlad Tewari from TERI made a presentation explaining the benefits of environment management to participating industries and how interested industries can join the “Environmental Improvements in Industries” project. They also shared some of their success stories in MSME clusters to demonstrate to industries that RECP measures with low/no investment can also give sizable savings. Industries were provided with forms to indicate their areas of interest for implementation of Environment Management.

Mr. Asit Nema, Sr. Consultant - Sanitation and Solid Waste Management, Hydroplan presented on the tasks to be performed with approximate timelines. An open discussion followed the presentations. In the discussions, the participants proposed Hydroplan to work on different options for waste water/ effluent management based on the situation analysis in Patparganj Industrial Estate.

Industries welcomed the idea and displayed high interest for participation in the project. It was agreed by PFEA that they will circulate the application forms to the industrial units and assured GIZ and team of experts of providing the filled-in application forms as soon as possible. The meeting ended with a vote of thanks from C. Sripati, GIZ.
