Customised training programme on Primary Treatment of Industrial Effluents

With a training program customized for operators and helpers of ETPs/CETPs, Gujarat Pollution Control Board (GPCB) along with GIZ, is laying the groundwork for training skilled workers in-house, setting a benchmark.

Operators and Helpers are key personnel in ensuring successful operation of ETPs/CETPs. Primary Treatment of Industrial Effluents is a crucial task to enhance the performance of ETP/CETP. The one-day training event was inaugurated by Mr. Mahesh Pandya, Director, CETP, Vapi Green Enviro Ltd. (VGEL). From a manpower perspective, the event was attended by more than 104 operators/technicians of individual industry ETP’s. The Regional Officer, Gujarat Pollution Control Board, in his address to the participants stressed the importance of continued practical training for improvement in their daily ETP/CETP operations.

The one-day training offered the exposure on the usage of chemicals and equipment’s generally used in a primary treatment. The participants also gained insights into the optimum chemical dosing mechanism and safety aspects to minimize hazard risks, use of resources and related costs of operation. Promotion of skills development of operators of the ETPs/CETPs from industries and industrial estates enhances the performance of wastewater treatment sector as a whole. This, in turn, leads to the improvement of workplace practices, employability, and mobility of the workforce. Such exchanges are enriching for everyone involved and form the foundation for success.
