Adelphi workshop with stakeholders on resource efficient cleaner production

10 and 11 April 2018, Delhi

A two-day workshop on Environment Improvement in Industries through Resource Efficiency and Cleaner Production (RECP) was conducted by GIZ as a part of SEIP project on April 10th and 11th 2018. The first-day workshop was organised at Mayapuri industrial area CETP Society and the second day was at Indian Institute of Packaging, Patparganj Industrial Area. More than twenty participants including representatives from Mayapuri industrial area, Lawrence Road industrial area, Patparganj Industrial area, DSIIDC, Adelphi (represented by TERI and Stenum Asia) along with GIZ participated in the event.

The workshop started with opening remarks from GIZ followed by sessions on energy saving strategies and utility tools for energy saving strategies by Adelphi consortium. Adelphi also conducted a classroom exercise in which they asked the industries to identify power factor and its economic implications for their industry. Adelphi also demonstrated simple tools for checking water quality and overall intensity of light. These tools are self-sufficient, user-friendly and economical which will allow the industrialists to save water, energy themselves. Adelphi also introduced financing options for funding RECP measures. These schemes would help SME managers and employees to get funding from different sources for replication of RECP measures. The funding varies from 5 lakhs to 5 crores. After the exercise, Adelphi team shared their success stories from the detail assessments done in selected industries. The selected industries themselves also shared the benefits they from RECP measures with low/no investment under SEIP project.  

CETP societies and Patparganj F.I.E Entrepreneurs Association (PFEA) appreciated the initiatives taken up by Adelphi and they also encouraged industries to implement the measures suggested under RECP as a part of SEIP project. The workshop ended with a vote of thanks from GIZ and Adelphi.
