Online Training on “Planning of New Industrial Parks and Investment/Manufacturing Zones”

A two-day virtual training on “Planning of New Industrial Parks & Investment/ Manufacturing Zones” was organised on the 3rd and 4th of December 2020, through MS Teams. The training was conducted by Mr. Raghu Babu Nukala, Project Director, GIZ-SEIP II. Around fifteen representatives from BIADA, SIDCUL and WBIDC (West Bengal, Bihar and Uttarakhand) participated in the two-day training.

A well planned and organised industrial area, defined by a set of quality parameters such as economic quality, environmental quality, and social quality, could be an answer to sustainability. Through this training SEIP intended to inculcate the thought process in the participants to look at environment-friendly and sustainable measures while planning new industrial parks and zones.  It covered aspects of planning, development and management of industrial parks and investment/ manufacturing zones.  

The training to the staff is broken down into the following topics:

  • Session 1: What are the key concerns with planning and development of industrial parks and investment zones?
  • Session 2: Planning and Management of Industrial Parks and Investment Zones – international experiences
  • Session 3: Infrastructure Provisioning in Industrial Parks
  • Questions & Answers

The training on the “Planning of New Industrial Parks and Investment Zones” served as a platform to exchange knowledge related to a plethora of the issues associated with planning of new industrial parks and investment zones. Representatives came together and discussed openly about their problems and needs of their respective organisations. The participants appreciated the initiative taken up by GIZ-SEIP project. The training concluded with positive feedback from the participants.
