Webinar on National Environment Law Portal

14th February 2020

The need for an e-Portal on Indian Environmental Laws:

Presently, India has more than 200 Central and State legislations that deal with environmental issues. Several laws, rules, amendments, notifications, guidelines, directions etc issued by governments, central and state pollution control boards, as well as by the courts from time to time. However, all of these are not available at one place with easy access to the public & private agencies, industries and the general public. One platform containing all the relevant information of Indian environment acts & rules, guidelines, judgements, orders, directions etc issued by MoEF&C, CPCB, courts/tribunals, publications, reference material will create awareness and ease of access.

This webinar placed its focus on how a National Environment Law Portal could serve as a single window access to information and coordinate the promotion of environmental law as a tool for sustainable development. Such a portal could also support industries to understand the environment concerns and to reduce dependency on private consultants.

Dr. Edzard Ruehe and Mr. Sebastian Hoffmann led the presentation. The highly interactive session saw many participants from the field of decision makers, academia, researchers etc.
